Hearing God
Hearing God starts with our commitments to humble obedience. We won’t always do it perfectly but, we must do it purposefully!
Do you intend to obey God when he speaks? Or have you already decided to follow your own way despite what God’s spirit will say?
Genesis 22:2-3 New International Version (NIV)
Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you. Early the next morning Abraham got up and loaded his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. When he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about.”
The assignment Yahweh gave to Abraham could not have been accomplish on a whim It was too meticulous of a task to accomplish
Without adequate preparation, strategy, intentionality , accountability , and dedication to detail.
- PREPARATION
The journey to mount Mariah in Jerusalem required three days. In order to sustain the entourage, they prepared before taking the trip to the place of sacrifice. - ACCOUNTABILITY
Abraham’s choice to bring two servants along may have been to provide help in carrying enough wood to build and altar. But, perhaps he brought them along for companionship as he carried out this difficult assignment. - INTENTIONALITY AND DEDICATION
Along with the wood, “GLOWING PIECES OF CHARCOAL OR OTHER EMBERS WOULD HAVE BEEN CARRIED IN SMALL POTTERYCONTAINERS AND CAREFULLY NURSED ALONG UNTILFIRE WAS NEEDED.”
He put measure in place to be certain he would arrive at is destination,
Certain he’d be equipped with the appropriate supplies to carry out the task, certain of having suitable accountability in place to make sure the job was done with precision.
Will you commit to align your actions and attitudes with the direction of obedience? Will you humble yourself to remain accountable to other mature believers?
Not only was God asking Abraham to sacrifice his son he loved but, also the future God had promised. Yet Abraham was willing to pay it no matter the cost. Abrahams costly response resulted in abundant blessing.
The clearest takeaway from this is that each of us must LEARN: EXPECT TO PAY A PRICE
In disobedience we miss God’s blessing, we must invite God’s necessary discipline in our life.
It is important to respond to God without delay! Would the RAM have been caught in the bush if Abraham would of delayed his obedience?
Delayed obedience is disobedience! THIS IS YOUR DAY TO LISTEN! Listen and obey!
