MISSIONS/OUTREACH

We often underestimate the power of many. MVP capitalizes on the most valuable player in missions work and that’s YOU. If enough of “you” come on board there is no limit to what “we” can do. It’s a simple fact that we can do far more together than we can separately. This is why we are partnering with Open Bible Churches and the “Mission Venture Plan” to create avenues to link with others in a local and global way. The Mission Venture plan is our primary means to invest in global missions. We receive and send off monthly offerings to spread the Gospel and meet needs outside our walls. Short Term Missions Trips

We plan one short term missions trip per year to provide opportunity to see mission work close up touching the lives of people in other cultures.

Local Outreaches

Annual backpacks for kids:

Providing backpacks for school children in need.

Mission of Hope meals:

An outreach team provides, prepares, and serves a meal at the local rescue mission.

Holiday meals:

We provide a meal to members of the community that have no place to go on the holidays. A meal is served on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Coat, clothing, household give-a-way:

In the Fall of each year we give out hundreds of coats, blankets, various clothing items and household furniture, etc. to those in need. Open to the community.

Serve the City outreach events:

We participate in a cooperative church network called Serve the City to provide services and assistance to the greater Cedar Rapids area. We are one of many local churches joining forces to meet need and spread the Gospel message of Jesus.

Food Pantry:

We have a food pantry for church and community members. If you are in need of a box you may call (319) 389-4681 on Mondays from 9 AM – 11 AM. You can pick up your box of food and supplies the following Thursday from 9 AM – 11 AM. The distribution point will be located at the pole barn on our campus. Click here for food pantry nondiscrimination statement.

If you would be willing to donate the pantry is always in need of canned vegetables, canned fruit, any canned pasta sauce, canned tuna, canned chicken, canned beef stew, spaghetti/pasta, boxed macaroni and cheese, boxed meals, as well as BOXES to distribute the food.

Garden:

We have a garden in the back lot to provide fresh produce for those in need. Volunteers and helpers are needed, in any capacity. Please call the church office or contact Sondra Hancock by email at sondrahancock@yahoo.com

Local Ethnic Church Plant:

We are temporarily providing (one year) the use of a portion of our campus facilities to Community Evangelican Pentecostal Church (CEPC), an African Open Bible church plant in Cedar Rapids. They are currently holding services on Sunday morning at 10:30 AM in our Fellowship Hall and are using space for ministry on Saturday as well. Please help us make them feel welcome and pray God will bless their efforts and provide adequate worship facilities as they grow and plan to move out on their own.
